Tylor Skory Personal Blog |
This is my personal blog. It's a place for me to capture my thoughts and share my interweb findings. |
I am writing this post from Caribou (one of my favorite places to work) with a cup of coconut chi tea latte next to me. After heading up here and grabbing my drink, the barista eyed my messenger bag on my shoulder. “Got lots of schoolwork to do?” she asked. I replied that I was here to get some work done. It’s early evening and I have a few projects I’m really excited to work on. She gave me a sad little smile and responded sarcastically with, “that’s got to be fun.” I was a little taken aback. Well yeah? It was going to be fun. Then I started thinking. When did this mentality of “work sucks” start? Was there ever an era where work was something that people actually looked forward to? It is, after all, what we spend most of our lives doing – that is, our “occupation” or work. Who says that this has to sucks? Why can’t it be something that we enjoy and is fun. I wish that people would make more of an effort to try and find a way to make money off of something that they love. Yes, it goes against everything that we, as a society, live by but life is too short to live it behind a desk, in my opinion…
